Despite the kindness of Boaz, Naomi and Ruth are still in a desperate situation. Elimelech’s land in Bethlehem will have to be sold because there’s no one to inherit or work it. The reality is these women face poverty. But Naomi has a plan…
She knows that God’s law is there to provide and rescue a family in her situation.
For this plan to work it will involve Ruth getting married again. However, it was not without risk or danger. As we read through Ruth 3 we will discover that God is still at work even in risky situation.
Whether you like it or not – we face risk. You can’t avoid risk even if you want to. All of our plans for tomorrow’s activities can be shattered by a thousand unknowns. However, it is good to take risks for the cause of God.
God loves the mission battle cry of William Carey: “Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God.”
Or Jim Elliot who went as a missionary deep into the Ecuador’s rain forest and along with four other men, where they were martyred for serving Jesus. Listen to what he said “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose”.
How will things work out for Ruth?
