Using Zoom

During the period of social distancing, we will use the Zoom videoconferencing service to run services and meetings and to bring the congregation together. Here is a guide to how this works.

Install Zoom

It is not essential to install Zoom, but we recommend this, for the best experience. The Zoom app is available for Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone/iPad and Linux.

  1. Windows: click this link to download and install.
  2. iPhone/iPad: download from the App Store, here.
  3. Android: get the app from the Google Play store.
  4. Mac: follow these instructions.
  5. Linux: instructions are here.

It may help to register for a Zoom account, but that is optional. You will be able to attend Freedom Church Zoom meetings without registering.

There are a few other options from the Zoom download centre, but you should only need items from the list above.

Sunday Services

>This is the link for our Sunday service Zoom meeting.<

Sunday morning meetings begin at 10:30am. You can click the link above before the meeting starts (and wait for it to start) or at any time while the meeting is running. The meeting will normally run until about 12pm and we will make the sermon audio available as usual, once we’ve had time to edit and upload.

During the meeting, you will be able to hear and see the worship leaders, preacher and meeting leader. It won’t be possible to see or talk to each other audibly, but you can use the group chat to communicate with everyone. So feel free to share scriptures, prayers and encouraging messages. (Be aware that those leading may not be able to respond to individual messages during the service.)

Other meetings

We will also use Zoom for other meetings – house groups, prayer meetings and so on. During those meetings, you will normally be able to talk as well as listen. Please use the ‘mute’ function to switch off your microphone when not talking – otherwise nasty feedback can arise!

Links for these other Zoom meetings will be publicised separately. If you’re unsure about how to connect to the meeting, speak to your meeting/house group leader.

Connecting by phone

If you are unable to connect to a Zoom meeting via computer or mobile device, you can still connect via a telephone call. You will need the Zoom meeting ID (for Sunday services, that’s 240-689-322). Dial one of the phone numbers below and follow the voice prompts:

0330 088 5830
0131 460 1196
0203 481 5237
0203 481 5240
0208 080 6591
0208 080 6592

Detailed instructions for attending meetings are in this downloadable Word document. (The images below are of this document.)
